I have downloaded tigase-server-5.2.0-b3447 and installed on a USB disk. However, when I tried to launch the server:

cd %Tigase_Home%

Run.bat

C:\Tigase>java -cp "jars/*" -Djdbc.drivers=com.mysql.jdbc.Driver tigase.server.XMPPServer --property-file etc/init.properties

it prompts:

cannot find or load main class:jars.derbytools.jar

Sometimes it report another jar file. I have checked jars/tigase-server.jar, class tigase.server.XMPPServer does exist.

Any idea why java can't find main class and it report strange "jars.derbytools.jar"? it's because my java classpath setting?

The pacakge itself can work. I have tried it serveral days before on another windows 7 (32bit) machine. But now when I try to install it on win7 64 bit, and on an USB disk,it doesn't work. But probably it's a JAVA home or classpath issue, I just cannot know why.

Thanks for any comments.

Can you share list of all files in jars/ directory? Can you try installing same package on same machine on regular drive? Is is possible that the USB stick is faulty and causes read errors?

Many thanks for look into this case. Finally I found it's JDK installation issue. This issue can be reproduced by:

  1. Install JDK (or JRE) on windows

  2. Install tigase

  3. Move JDK/JRE from its home directory to another directory.

Note after correct set JDK/JRE, other java applications may function well but tigase cannot. This is why I can't figure it out at first.

Hope this can also help others.

How do you set those? Do you also update System/User property JAVA_HOME (win+x -> system -> advanced system options -> environment variables)?
